9to5 Continues to Seek Justice for Workers Without Paid Sick Days As Case Moves to State Supreme Court

Milwaukee- As the District IV Court of Appeals advanced the Milwaukee paid sick leave case to the State Supreme Court, advocates affirmed that the fight for this essential labor protection continues both statewide and federally. The Wisconsin State Supreme Court has now accepted the case.

Milwaukee Paid Sick Day Appeal Case is Advanced and Will Be Heard January 20

Milwaukee- 9to5 has requested that the court advance the case to appeal the ruling on Paid Sick Days and that it include oral arguments. The court has granted both of these requests. The hearing is with Dist. IV Court of Appeals in Madison. It will hear the case on January, 20, 2010 at 10:00AM on the 2nd floor of East Wing of State Capitol in Madison. The judges will be Judge Vergeront, Judge Lundstein, and Judge Higginbotham.

With Economy and Epidemics, American Workers Need Paid Sick Days Now More Than Ever

Denver, CO -- May 19, 2009 -- The United States moved closer to establishing paid sick days as a national basic labor standard when the Healthy Families Act was re-introduced yesterday in the House of Representatives. Sponsored by Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) the legislation would make it possible for workers to accrue up to seven paid sick days each year. HFA would also allow workers to utilize paid sick days to recover from domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault.
