Welcome LaShawndra Vernon, Milwaukee Organizer

LaShawndra Vernon is a community activist dedicated to eliminating poverty and advocating for disenfranchised community members. She has 19 years of experience in outreach and education. LaShawndra is a third generation Milwaukee activist. She got her start as a teen peer educator at Planned Parenthood, and continued to work in several Milwaukee area non profits providing community outreach and education. LaShawndra is a professional mediator and facilitates workshops and trainings on Community Mediation and Conflict Resolution. She has worked collaboratively with Community Advocates, Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Recreation Department, and several coalitions in the area that promote advocacy and system improvements.
LaShawndra attended Springfield College, earning a BA in Human Services and Criminal Justice. She went on to earn a MA in Public Service and Dispute Resolution from Marquette University. LaShawndra was born black, she is a working mother with one daughter and one son.
