Equal Pay Day

Did you know...women, on average, must work until Tuesday of the following week to make the same week's pay as a man earned the week before?

Did you know...the wage gap costs the average American full-time woman worker between $700,000 and $2 million over the course of her lifetime?

Did you know...that black women with BA degrees make only $1,545 more per year than white males who have only completed high school?

Did you know...that the wage gap between mothers and non-mothers is greaterthan between women and men-- and it's actually getting bigger. Non-mothers earn 10% less, mothers earn 27% less and single mothers earn between 34% to 44% less than their male counterparts? 

Did you know...over her working life, a woman could expect to gain a total of $210,000 in additional income if equal pay was the norm (including part time workers)?

Did you know... that since 1963, when the Equal Pay Act was signed, the closing of the wage gap between men and women has been at a rate of about half a penny a year?

Did you know... that for women of color, pay equity could reduced the percentage of  workers  earning poverty-level wages for a family of 3 by 48.8%?

Did you know... in one year, the average Latina woman working full-time earns $17,837 less than the average white man does. Over a 30-year career, that adds up to $510,000!

Did you know... that on April 11, 1997, President Bill Clinton declares the day "National Pay Inequity Awareness Day" and urges employers to ensure fair pay policies. This year will be the 14th Annual Equal Pay Day Rally at the state Capitol. Please join us
