On August 26, 2010, 9to5 led a march into Milwaukee's city hall to remind elected officials that 69% of voters said YES to paid sick days in the November 2008 elections. Watch the video to see us in action!

The rally took place on the 90th anniversary of a women's right to vote in the United States, also known as Women's Equality Day.  A total of 157,117 Milwaukeeans voted yes on the municipal referendum for paid sick days, but the law was blocked from going into effect by a lawsuit brought by the business lobby.

Our 8/26 day of action also called for support of pending national legislation for paid sick days--the Healthy Families Act.  Take action and call (202) 224-3121 or write your members of Congress today to let them know you support the HFA--so that workers are not forced to choose between the family they love and the job they need.

Thanks to all the members of 9to5 National Association of Working Women, the Milwaukee Central Labor Council, unions SEIU & ATU, Voces de la Frontera, the NAACP, MICAH, Campaign Against Violence, and the Urban Ground,  who turned out on 8/26 and demonstrated that Milwaukee's voters support paid sick days--a crucial need for today's working families.
