Women's Capitol Briefing

When: Wednesday, January 25, 2012 - 8:00am - 11:00am EST
Location:

Central Presbyterian Church

201 Washington St. SW

Atlanta, GA 30303

Please join us for the first Women's Capitol Briefing.

Women's Capitol Briefings are a great way to stay on top of the good, the bad and the ugly as Shelley Senterfitt, our legislative counsel, gives us an overview of what decisions are being made, how the budget is shaping up, how our legislative initiatives are faring, and where our voices are most needed. Bring your friends who care about the role of state government in our lives and its impact on our economic security; our safety in our homes, workplaces and the streets, programs benefiting seniors, low-income women and women in prisons, and how to have family-friendly workplaces through the Family Care Act.

The schedule for the day goes as follows:

8:00 - 8:30 Breakfast and networking

8:30 - 9:30  Legislative Update and Featured Legislator of the Month

9:30 - 10:00 Training in Lobbying 101

10:00 - 11:00   Small groups with an experienced advocate will go across the street to the Capitol to speak with our legislators about issues that need our attention

RSVP to stephanie [at] rsvp [dot] org (subject: RSVP) . Breakfast is complimentary.

Schedule for the next Women's Briefings, same time, same place: Thursday, February 23 and Wednesday, March 21. Please plan to be with us.

Georgia Women for a Change is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy organization that promotes progressive change for women and girls and their families in the state. We welcome women and men who believe that Georgia can do better. We believe that more women in public office will lead to better decision-making. We believe that more women speaking up in our own interest will inform a process that needs our voice.
