An Activist Network Member on the ALC

At 9to5’s 2011 Annual Leadership Conference (April 29-May 2), two members unaffiliated with any chapter represented the Activist Network.  The Activist Network is made up of individual members who live in areas where there is no staffed chapter of 9to5, who take action through area-specific events, email action alerts, and online petitions.  In these areas, it’s all the more important for members to make their voices heard.

One Activist Network member from the East Coast wrote the following about her visit to her Congressional Representative: "It was really wonderful meeting with my representative.  I don't think people get the full impact that it's their job to hear our concerns.  That became very clear to me during the visit. When we met, there was complete receptivity to our concerns regarding work/family balance and the Healthy Family Act.  It's so important to do things like visit them and write them letters, to let them know what our needs are.  People have no right complaining about how things if they don't exercise their rights to change things.”

Are you interested in becoming part of 9to5, but don’t live in a chapter state?  You can still fight for working women!  Join 9to5, and we’ll keep in touch with you through mailings, emails, and phone calls to make sure you have ways to improve the lives of women and families!
