9to5 was founded in 1973 by clerical workers to respond to the inequities, unfairness, and outright harassment they were experiencing in the workplace. Today 9to5 is fighting for economic justice for those most harmed by centuries of racism and sexism: women and nonbinary people of color.

Our National Network reaches every state where 9to5 members are ready to take action on national and federal issues. Our work is informed by our chapters and members, and we advocate for broad solutions to the issues our network is facing for families across the country.

In 2023, we celebrated the passing of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the PUMP Act. We advocated for these bills that help ensure pregnant and postpartum workers can stay in the workforce. We continue to fight for workers’ rights and family and community sustainability while building power with our communities.
